Learn Russian at home with Russian language software
Russia has been very much in the news for the last few weeks. Now would be a good time to brush up your Russian, or learn Russian from scratch.
I've always felt an affinity for Russians because my grandfather was Russian, well, my step-father actually, but he was all the grandfather a child could ever wish for. He was good natured and affectionate, and used to take me swimming. He had a junk shop, and would show me how he made gloves with his Singer treadle machine, to sell in the shop.
Like many second generation immigrants, I was accustomed to hearing my grandparents speak with foreign accents, and felt quite comfortable about this; as a child, I would sometimes correct their English, and they would thank me seriously, although I expect they were really laughing.
Some of the best literature in the world is Russian, and, as well as showing you some of the best Russian language courses, I am going to remind you about some of the best Russian books and plays, and show you some Russian photographs, videos on YouTube, and you can even take part in a poll.

Do you like this painting of St Basil's Church at the Kremlin? It's just a small picture I bought from the artist when I was visiting Moscow. It hangs in a corner of my lounge, and reminds me of my trip which must be, oh, twenty years ago. It was so interesting, and very different from anywhere I had been to before in Europe.
